Plant Science 5: Plant Adaptations (The Fernery and more)

Our continued adventures at the Botanic Gardens.

Outside the greenhouses....

The fountain.

Seeds from the trees

And inside the greenhouses:

A giant citrus fruit.

The fernery:

Ferns, close up.

Just look at this amazing flower.

Ds1 said it reminded him of that really stinky jungle flower that only flowers once every hundred years. Thankfully this one didn't stink!

Blimey you've been all busy! We planted some seeds of ....something in a croissant tray - but you've just made me realise I'd forgotten about it for a week or so. And the cress - HOW difficult is cress? Well, we've killed it. As for the ants in the Ant-o-Sphere pod.... I cannot reveal as I fear we will have the RSPCA banging on the door. It's not like they're even fussy eaters..... but they need SOMETHING to lug about. Or maybe it was the lack of water topping up-ness. Making one of the pods a swimming pool doesn't count apparently. Whatever - but when the whole thing got knocked off the chest of drawers today we didn't find any ants....... Think we'll go back to studying Spongebob.

Just remembered the cress was supposed to be for the ants.
