ReplyDeleteLove the igloo - we tried it last year using my washing-up bowl as the mould - nice big blocks but it was also the activity that left me in a home-made sling for a week.... This year I was merely reminded I had children by the avenues of wet clothes, making me believe they had spent a great deal of time outside.... unsupervised, unapplauded, unrecorded.... sigh...

ReplyDeleteI started home edding my daughter this Sept and I recently came across your blog which I absolutely enjoy. All the links and resources you've listed are so useful. Thank you ever so much for that, it's of great help for a newbie like me :D. The maths and science ones have been brilliant for my 13 year old son, who is at school.
I was wondering, could you direct me somewhere where I can find hints , tips or any sort of material on how to teach children to write properly? My children (1 girl and two boys) have great vocabulary but when it comes to putting their ideas down on paper... it's a disaster! They need some structure and foundation on how to express those great ideas in an interesting and fluid way. Any ideas? I was looking to buy some books but there are so many out there I don't know which ones would be the best. Many thanks for your time and help. Daniela

ReplyDeleteI'm no expert on the writing thing but I know there are some books out there that others recommend (I think there is a series of US books - the US seems pretty good on this sort of thing).
Your best place to ask would be on the littlebitofstructure forum (http://alittlebitofstructure.webs.com/ ) as I'm sure they'd be able to point you in the right direction and possibly suggest some free online resources too.

ReplyDeleteVery impressed by the cooking and the igloo. How high did it get? Did they get the roof on? Makes me feel a bit cooler looking at it (it's still hot here!)
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of themed cooking for the kids. My dd recently made rather Eastery themed goods, which were very popular. Yum.
